Lady Bisons win 3 of 4 matches in Joplin

JOPLIN, Mo. – The Harding volleyball team wrapped up the Missouri Southern Invitational on a good note Saturday defeating Southeastern Oklahoma, 3-2 and host team Missouri Southern, 3-2. The Lady Bisons improved to 3-1 on the season.

SEARCY – Harding University junior quarterback Josh Powell connected on an 11-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Tyler O’Quin with 18 seconds remaining to give the Bisons a 17-15 victory over Missouri Southern in the 2009 season opener Saturday night at First Security Stadium.

Unknown Challengers in Dead Heat with Lincoln

A new Public Policy Polling survey in Arkansas shows Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) tied with three potential challengers who have essentially non-existent name recognition.
Lincoln gets at 40% against all three of the Republicans. Gilbert Baker (R) and Curtis Coleman (R) lead her with 42% and 41% respectively, while Tom Cotton trails with 39%.

U.S. News ranks Harding among South’s best for 16th year

SEARCY, Ark. — For the 16th consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report
magazine has ranked Harding University as one of the South’s best
universities. The rankings are in the magazine’s annual America’s Best
Colleges issue, which hits newsstands Aug. 20.

Kohler Company sink plant in Searcy lays off 41

Kohler Company’s stainless-steel sink plant in Searcy laid off 41 employees this week, the company said Tuesday. The layoffs include production and administrative personnel at the manufacturing plant.
