Harding University presents the popular musical, “Oklahoma!,” Oct. 24-25, as the highlight of Homecoming weekend. Tickets are now on sale for this adventure in the western frontier.

“We believe the audience will enjoy this musical theatre classic,” producer Cindee Stockstill said. “The older generation has grown up with this as a part of their culture. The younger generation will enjoy the relationships between the two primary couples as well as the energetic choreography and combat scenes.”

The cast members are Elizabeth Harrell, Brentwood, Tenn.; David Walton, Nashville, Tenn.; Rachel Filbeck, Cape Girardeau, Mo.; Alex Ritchie, Searcy, Ark.; Linzi Lawson, La Place, La.; Sam Barker, Decatur, Ala.; Jared Cook, Palestine, Texas; Haley Jane Witt, Ooltewah, Tenn.; Caleb Lowery, Huntsville, Ala.; and Ross Cochran, Searcy, Ark.

The set for the musical was created to resemble the wide-open spaces of the Oklahoma territory. The combination of the time period and location opened many opportunities for a unique set. The cast is very large and each individual brings different abilities and experiences to the production. With so many different backgrounds, there is a blend of talent that lights up the stage.

The first collaboration of Rodgers & Hammerstein, “Oklahoma!” is set in a Western Indian territory in 1907 and provides the background for the great love story of Curly and Laurey. Amidst the high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and the cowboys, Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, travel the bumpy country road of true love.

Follow the love story of Curly and Laurey in the brand-new state of “Oklahoma!” in Benson Auditorium. Tickets $15, $12 and $10. They may be purchased online at www.hardingtickets.com or at Benson Auditorium box office every afternoon from 1-4 p.m.
