The Arkansas plant of Finzer Roller participated in the Today’s THV and Arkansas Foodbank network Summer Cereal Drive, collecting 1,005 boxes of cereal to help underprivileged children who will not have school meals during the summer. The cereal was delivered on Monday, June 30, to His House, a collection point for charitable donations operated by the College Church of Christ in Searcy.
“About 75 percent of the donations came from our employees, and the other 25 percent came from vendors,” Accounting Manager Jacquline Ford said. “Some people brought cereal and some brought money, and we then used the money to buy more cereal.”
The drive, which began June 2 and ended June 27, will be the first of many charitable activities Finzer Roller participates in, according to Ford.
“This is the 40th year Finzer Roller has been in business,” Ford said, “and the company wanted to give something back. It’s a wonderful company to work for, very family and community oriented.”
Fenzer Roller has eight plants across the U.S. and one in Canada. Ford said all the plants will eventually be involved in community service, but the Arkansas location was the first.
“We’re going to continue to stay involved in the community,” she said. “We’re planning on adopting a highway, volunteering at animal shelters, working with senior citizens and helping storm victims.”
